A Summer Math Workshop
for Middle School Girls

Monday, July 18, to Friday, July 22, 2011
1:00 to 4:00 pm
University of Colorado at Boulder

Sophie Math is a weeklong summer math workshop designed to introduce middle school girls to the fascinating world of mathematics. We will discuss topics outside the typical school curriculum like combinatorics, modular arithmetic, topology, and 3D geometry. Classes will emphasize interactive and group learning. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and work together with other participants to explore math topics.

Applicants should complete the Sophie Math online application. There is no cost to attend. Girls entering 7th through 9th grade in fall 2011 are welcome to apply. Recommended background: high school algebra. The application deadline is April 16. Note that participants from out of town will need to provide their own housing.

Note: The application deadline has passed. We are no longer accepting applications for summer 2011.
