A Summer Programming Workshop
for High School Students

Monday, June 4, to Friday, June 8, 2012
1:00 to 4:00 pm
University of Colorado at Boulder

The Lambda Workshop is a weeklong computer programming workshop for high school students. Both beginner and experienced programmers are welcome to participate. Beginners will learn the Python programming language. Experienced programmers may use a different language. We will focus on using computer programming to solve mathematical problems.

Applicants should complete the Lambda Workshop online application by February 17. There is no cost to attend but space is limited. Students entering 9th grade or above in fall 2012 may apply. Participants will be chosen based on math background, programming experience, and grade level. Note that participants from out of town will need to provide their own housing.

The Lambda Workshop will be led by Silva Chang, director of the Colorado Math Circle, and Ben Alpert, computer science major at Carnegie Mellon University. The summer program is sponsored by the University of Colorado at Boulder Department of Applied Mathematics. We thank the CU Outreach Committee for their generous support of the Colorado Math Circle.
